I recently had the pleasure of visiting this wonderful, local maker of fine furniture. I had visited at the request of my good friend and style maven, Jill the Designer, as we were planning an upcoming shoot. We had discussed the need for a unique and quality piece of furniture for the shoot and it just so happens she personally knows those behind Björk Studio.
So we go. It was cold and it was wonderful. Here, in an out-of-the-way location on the west side of town was a studio hand-crafting fine furniture pieces. Bespoke. Handcrafted. Benchmade. All apt descriptions for a studio that, from scratch plans, creates custom works of furniture. I was there, mainly, to see if the space was going to be one we could use for the upcoming shoot. How was the light? Was the space large enough? Would it suit our needs?
After of day of test shots I knew I wanted to return to Björk Studio to photography the many processes that go into crafting bespoke furniture. Below are some of those photos I made in an afternoon with this interesting group of folks. If you have an interest check out their website at www.bjorkstudio.com (new site coming soon) and reach out to them. I guarantee you will receive personal attention and care to the smallest details should you decide you need a piece from via Björk Studio. It's the sort of care to design details you only find from something being hand-crafted. MADE IN AMERICA.
